The
height of Greek architectural style did not arise until the fifth century
A.D., when, under the rule of Pericles, the Acropolis in Athens was rebuilt
after its destruction by the Persians. It was at this point when the Classical
style came into full swing. In essence, Classicism was based upon the harmony
of a building’s elements, mathematical correctness, a general sense
of order, and an overwhelming attention to symmetry.
