Both these buildings, one of Roman origin, and the other imitating Roman Architecture, use arches extensively. Despite the differences in capital designs, one Ionic the other Corinthian, they both use columns to decorate internal arches. It is evidence of similar ceiling designs in both buildings as well. Curved triangular designs crown arched enclaves. The repeating ceiling design, too, is nearly identical, with recessed, gridded squares. The MFA uses this design in the ceiling at the very entrance, a design that can be seen covering the entire domed ceiling of the main room of the Pantheon.
