Raphael
Delorme, Untitled (Woman and Steamship), 1928

Marnie,

The scene from the outside of Marnies mothers home during the climax of Marnie, which is shown above seems to be a replication of Raphael Delormes Untitled work shown above. The perspective and large white ship in the background are common to both images. Even the blonde hair of the nude character in Delormes painting echoes Tippi Hedrens blonde hair. Just as Rene Magrittes painting Deep Waters provides a model for Tippi Hedren in The Birds, so does the nude blonde character in Delormes work. The fact that this woman is carrying two boxes refers to Marnies habit of thievery. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
