Dali’s early career was one tied up in the surrealist movement in Europe, which influenced his works throughout his lifetime. This was a movement focused on expressing themselves through “anti-art” and creating paintings that looked like nothing other than their own ideas. The artwork in this movement is all about the element of surprise, and creating juxtapositions between ideas or elements that do not belong together. During this part of his career, Dali was able to conform to the group simply by being a non-conformist.
