Following his estrangement from the surrealist movement, Dali began creating many paintings about dream worlds focused around Sigmund Freud’s ideas. This was his own take on surrealism because it deviated away from the traditional movement based on shape and color. Instead, his art depicted actual images that speak about something. He chose to take everyday images and show them in a new light, taking an image and making something out of it.
