BIOGRAPHY: Otherwise known as Huynh Cong Ut, Nick Ut was born on March 29, 1951 in Long An, Vietnam, and he began taking photographs for the Associated Press (AP) from the age of 16 onwards. One could possibly speak of a legacy in his family for photography given that his brother was also an AP photographer who was unfortunately killed on assignment in Vietnam. Ut gained international recognition with his Pulitzer-Prize winning photograph of Kim Phuc Phan Thi, the nine year old girl in the picture entitled "Fleeing Napalm Bomb Attack" in 1972. He still works for the AP and is based in Los Angeles, where he is married with two children.
