Although the architecture of the Harvard Medical school facade imitates the Roman Ionic style, the modern white marble is very similar to the marble used in the Erechtheion. The Erechtheion, like Parthenon, is made almost entirely of marble. It is made of Pentelic marble, and recent reconstruction has been done using white marble very similar to that found in the facade of the Harvard Medical School.
Most of the area surrounding the large front lawn of the Harvard Medical School is made from the same marble and in the same Roman-like style, including the stairway and railings leading to the building entrance.
