The advertisement above is a horrible sign of how ignorant
and egotistic the American people can be. The American people
were quick to turn on the rights of the Japanese, even when
the Japanese were willing to fight in the army, donate blood,
or volunteer their time for their country. Dorothea's picture
shows how caught up companies and individuals get in trying
to make money for their company and products. Instead of thinking
about what they were putting on the advertisement, the company
was trying to cash in on the fashonable patriotism and hatred
popular during the war. Dorthea doesn't take a political stand
with the picture, but its mere existence shows how simple
minded the country's companies and citizens could be. |
