With
the advent of the computer, traditional techniques have been combined with
technology to create a new form of art, digital media. Some people believe
that it has replaced the traditional methods by prematurely working on the
computer to generate their initial ideas, without fully developing them
on paper first.
Digital
media is being widely accepted in the art world today and technology
is placed side-by-side with art.
The American
Institute of Graphic Arts defines graphic design as 'a creative process
that combines art and technology in order to communicate ideas'. But
there are still those artists that were raised in the artistic tradition
before the advent of computers, where the advances of technology is not
seen as positive.
