Photographs
Images of my boyfriend and I dominate the bottom corner of the box – at the time of the boxes' creation and at present, this is one of the most important relationships I have. Though Cornell did not include images of himself in his work, he often created pieces based on historical and popular figures, specifically the Medici family of Florence and ballerinas. These portraits capture less of the personality of the people themselves and more of how Cornell associates with them. In my own piece I did not try to convey a particular statement about my relationships, but rather created a general homage to them.
