JUMBO EXPLORER goes to Harvard Square!

shop.

Be it a Halloween costume, a new cd or a birthday present, Harvard Square has an eclectic variety of stores worth trekking off campus to find.

Walk back in time, through the doors of Leavitt & Pierce Inc., and immediately be transported to the musky tobacco shops that once lined Boston's cobbled streets. Choose from cigars, to flavored pipe tobacco to ornate hookahs or simply browse the interesting collection of ware.

Jasmine Sola is a college girl's guilty pleasure. The large store showcases color coordinated sections of trendy and cute clothes, ranging from designer jeans, to formal dresses to funky jewelry. Be sure to check out the sale racks and The shoe store branch of Jasmine Sola is located a few doors down and offers some guy clothing as well.

To find the perfect gift for a friend, step inside Black Ink. The high ceilinged store has shelves of out of the ordinary and often highly amusing toys, books, games, housewares and more. It's worth even to check out just for laughs.

For the Harvard Square version of a High Fidelity record store, peruse the selection at On Church Street. Super friendly staff make finding any vintage record to modern cd "as easy as A, B, C!"

For a more original and a much more affordable clothing store than Jasmine, walk down the stairs to Second Time Around. The racks of used designer jeans, funky hippy shirts and cool jewelry make this store a must stop for girls and guys alike.

Also check out: Oona's for vintage clothes and Halloween costumes, The Tannery for all sorts of shoes; the recently added American Apparel for unisex basics.
