ILA BORDERS (b. 1975) started playing girls' softball in her hometown of Downey, California, but by the time she was ten she was playing Little League baseball with boys. She received the first college baseball scholarship granted to a woman, and in 1998, as a starter for the Duluth-Superior Dukes, she became the first woman to pitch an entire season on a men's professional baseball team.
