text= My paintings dwell in the ambiguous space of seduction and surprise, irony and humor, poetry and one-liners. I am choosing to paint provocative still-lifes while challenging their inherent meaning through the act of painting. In this case, human-scale decaying plantains are arranged in staged compositions that subversively lead viewers into unexpected, slippery perspectives. My goal is to carefully choreograph a visual space that suggests the potential for some kind of slippage. Where image, intention and meaning fall apart, creating a dynamic engagement with the viewer.
