Excitement!

It's interesting to note that Jesus and his right-hand-(wo?)man are dressed as mirror images of one another. They're both wearing blue and red, with the red coming together in the center of the painting. This could just be a coincidence. Most art historians and Catholics argue that it's just a matter of composition. However, wearing matching clothing could be an indication of a relationship. Also, red and blue were the colors of royalty at the time, which Jesus and Mary Magdalene both were- which, Dan Brown argues, is another indication that this person is, in fact, Mary Magdalene. One fan of the book went even further, saying that the clothing implies a relationship between the two, so if it's John instead of Mary Magdalene, he implied, Da Vinci was portraying Jesus as homosexual. The fact that many historians believe Da Vinci himself was homosexual makes this claim, while unlikely, plausible.
