Mona Lisa and The Last Supper

Done just five years apart, Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are two of Leonardo Da Vinci's most famous works of art. They're both also two of his most controversial. The Mona Lisa is controversial because people often wonder what she's smiling about, and more importantly, who exactly the subject of the painting is. Some conspiracy buffs like to say it's just a picture of Da Vinci himself in drag. The Last Supper is also controversial because it's hard to say what's going on in the painting. The most popular view is that it's Jesus with 12 apostles. However, again the conspiracy buffs disagree- they say that the person to Jesus's right is in fact Mary Magdalene. They also argue the implications of this, arguing that Davinci is implying that Jesus and Magdalene were lovers.
